A to Z Challenge 2017 · Uncategorized

Welcome! My 2017 theme is UnSimply She Fiction. Each post begins with a simple sentence about a She. This fictional She is anything but simple. She may be dark. She may be funny. You may relate to her. You many not like her at all…She is revealing her truth.

She cooked a feast.

Onions. Sage. Tomatoes. Cabbage. Sweet Potatoes. Turkey.

It’s a beautiful afternoon, a cold, blustery day in February. Yes, beautiful.

Her children are home from school. They play in the living room.

She chopped the onions

She created. She enjoyed. She cooked a meal for her family.

She disappeared inside her life for a while.

Cooking fortified her soul.

She cooked a feast.

  1. …but where’s the part about how she sat at the table, and watched them all ENJOY the feast while she picked at her steamed veggies? And how, after they all went to bed, she snuck back into the cold, dark kitchen and finished off the last third of the triple-chocolate layer cake, her tears dripping into the frosting as she smothered the self-loathing with sugar and shame?

Oh wait. Maybe not everyone ELSE does that… :-/
